He replied to him, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?"  Pointing to his
disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of
my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."  Matthew 12:48-50

Survey Results
During the summer of 2011 we conducted a survey in the community of English
Village.  The survey included 12 questions based on spiritual matters.  The
reason for taking the survey was threefold:

1. We wanted to get the spiritual pulse of the community.
2. We wanted to meet as many residents as possible.

There were also several large correlations.  A correlation is when a portion of
the group surveyed answers a question in the same way so we can look at their
answers to the other questions and draw conclusions on how the two answers
might relate.  Our largest group in this survey was people who believe they will
go to heaven when they die so we will start there:

Of those who believe they will go to heaven when they die:

80% read their Bible at least once a week
70% believe a person gets to heaven through a relationship with God
55% believe "Jesus is my savior"

Of those who read the Bible at least once a week:

100% believe they will go to heaven when they die
87% think about spiritual things all the time
73% felt there were problems with churches in general
73% believe a person gets to heaven through a relationship with God
60% believe the Bible comes from God

Of those who believe a person goes to heaven through a relationship with God:

79% read the Bible at least once a week
64% believe "Jesus is my savior"

Of those who believe "Jesus is my savior":

91% think about spiritual things "all the time"
91% believe they would go to heaven when they die
82% believe a person gets to heaven through a relationship with God
64% read the Bible at least once a week
55% attend church at lease once a week

Of those who go to church at least once a week:

100% believe they will go to heaven when they die
90% found problems with the church in general
70% read the Bible at least once a week
70% believe a person gets to heaven through a relationship with God
60% believe the Bible is "from God"
60% believe "Jesus is my savior"

Of those who never go to church:

70% found problems with the church in general
60% believe they will go to heaven when they die
50% believe "Jesus is my savior"

An large part of people surveyed found problems with the church in general
(81%).  We thought it might be interesting to look at those who found no
problems with the church in general, but only one deviation stood out.  Of
those who found no problems with the church in general 80% never attend or
only attend on holidays.

We hope that you find the results of this survey interesting and beneficial to
you.  Our goal in sharing these results with you is for you to continue to think
about spiritual things.  If you have any questions or would like to someone to
come and talk to you about spiritual things you can use the
contact us page and
some one will contact you within a few days.
